Urgent Relief for Flash Flood Victims in Bangladesh
Introduction:
A devastating flash flood has swept through Southeast Bangladesh, affecting over 3.6 million people across 8 major districts, including Feni, Noakhali, Lakhsmipur, Habiganj, Chittagong, Khagrachhari, and Comilla. This catastrophe was triggered by the sudden opening of the Indian Sluice Gate over uphill streams in Tripura, causing immense suffering and destruction. The situation is dire, and the affected communities need our immediate help.
Know your fundraiser:
My name is Ratul Rahman, a high-school graduate and prospective college freshman from Dhaka, the capital city of Bangladesh. I am voluntarily organizing this fundraising campaign Remotely from Buffalo (NY) to support the victims of this devastating flood. Witnessing the immense challenges faced by the affected people, I felt compelled to take action and extend a helping hand to those in need.
Campaign Overview:
We are launching this international fundraising campaign to provide life-saving aid to the flood-affected people. While local efforts are underway, the scale of the disaster demands more resources than we can currently muster internally. Your support will help us reach those in need with essential supplies and services.
What We Need:
To effectively support the 3.6 million affected people, we are raising an initial target of $50,000 to purchase and distribute the following critical items:
- Life Jackets: Ensuring safety for those trapped in flooded areas.
- Dry Food: Including Date Palm Jaggery, Flattened Rice, Puffed Rice, Dates, and Biscuits.
- Water Purification Tablets: To provide clean drinking water and prevent waterborne diseases.
- Oral Saline: Vital for treating dehydration, especially in children and the elderly.
- Diarrhea Medicines: To combat the spread of disease due to contaminated water.
- Medical Equipment: For essential first aid.
- Dry Clothes: To provide warmth and protection in the absence of shelter.
- Large Polythene Bags & Tarpaulins: For keeping supplies dry and providing temporary shelter.
- Hire Engine Boats: To reach the most isolated and flooded areas.
The Impact:
Your contribution will directly impact the lives of those affected by this disaster. Every dollar raised will go towards purchasing these essential items and ensuring they reach the people who need them the most. By supporting this campaign, you're helping to save lives, prevent disease, and restore dignity to those who have lost everything.
How You Can Help:
Please consider donating whatever you can. No amount is too small, and every contribution will make a difference. If you're unable to donate, you can still support us by sharing this campaign with your network to spread the word.
Conclusion:
The people of Bangladesh are facing an unprecedented crisis, but with your help, we can provide the relief they desperately need. Let's come together to show our solidarity and make a tangible difference in their lives. Thank you for your generosity and support.
