Urgent Request: Help Us Prevent Our Loved One's Deportation
Donation protected
Hello Everyone,
A dear loved one and community member is facing an impossible situation. Several days ago they received a notice from USCIS that their green card renewal had been rejected and they have 33 days to leave the country or face detention and deportation. They have lived in the US since they were a toddler. The United States is the only home they have ever known. If they leave they would have to stay out for a minimum of 10 years.
This notice comes as a result of the failure of their guardian (who filed for them) to forward received notices and documentation, and what we believe to be errors on the part of USCIS. Furthermore, according to the notice, this person must stop working within the next 14 days. Additionally, this person is publicly queer and would be forced to return to a country that has extreme anti-LGBTQ legislation. We are doing everything in our power to keep our loved one safe and with us, but this comes with copious legal fees. As they are unable to work we are also raising funds to cover this person’s cost of living for the foreseeable future. Many pro-bono legal organizations have long waiting lists, and as this is extremely time-sensitive we don't have much leeway to explore free or affordable options.
Your donation could truly be the difference in keeping our loved one in the United States.
