URGENT! Spine surgery for Cameron

Just last month (January 2019)  Cameron began suffering from excruciating back pain after deciding to better his health with exercise. After seeing a chiropractor it became clear that more pain management was needed, so he was referrred to a local clinic where a PA (physician’s assistant) noticed he was having weakness in his right leg. The PA was immediately alarmed and told Cameron he needed an MRI right away, as the weakness was pointing to significant nerve damage.

The mri results left us speechless: the discs between his L4 and L5 vertebrae are terribly damaged. One disc is severely herniated and the other has spilled out to the point it has been pinched off and is directly pressing on his spinal cord, causing excruciating pain in his right leg.

We met with a spine surgeon who, after visual and physical findings, determined that surgery was in fact needed, as the optional route- physical therapy- would only do more harm. 

We quickly processed the info with surgery set less than two weeks away and knew- without insurance- we would have to find a way to make payments after surgery. 

Fast forward to this afternoon and the hospital called to say they need payment in full by tomorrow or the surgery is cancelled. While we know we serve a big God and miracles are possible, we also realize that we will have to continue to raise funds by every means possible, no matter how long it takes, then reschedule the surgery. 

My husband- who is our sole income provider- desperately needs this surgery. He needs his life back, I need my husband back and our children- 4 precious little lives plus one on the way in just a few months!- need their daddy back. His prescriptions for pain meds have run out and with Oklahoma’s new laws in place for opioids/painkillers, he’s stuck between a rock and a hard place, unable to get a refill from either doctor (neither the PA or Surgeon will do it) so he is left to fight thru intense pain just to move about the house as each day passes. It has reduced his quality of life immensely.  

We would be more than grateful for any kind of support you can offer and will be praying in thanksgiving for each donation. Truly, big or small, every single penny counts. The money raised from this campaign will go directly to the surgeon’s bill. This campaign does not include the cost we’ll face from the hospital directly- over night stay, pain meds post-op, the anesthesiologist, etc. Any amount raised over the goal will be saved to go towards the hospital bill.

It’s has been an extremely emotional and stressful whirlwind last few weeks (pregnancy hormones aren’t helping!) and we know we’ve only survived by the grace of God and your prayers.
