Help Michael Shinn with unexpected medical expenses

This is a fundraiser to help raise money for Michael Shinn and longtime girlfriend Jessica Nauta to cover medical bills, hotel stays, gas, food, and lost wages. Unfortunately Michael has no medical insurance and this is an ongoing situation.

Michael went to North Ottawa Community Hospital emergency room for chest pains Monday morning 10/21/24 and was transferred via ambulance to Trinity Hospital for an aortic dissection aneurysm. He was struggling to breathe due to an extra 15 liters of fluid on his lungs. Oxygen was administered via a BiPAP machine. His kidneys started failing and he started dialysis on Thursday evening 10/24/24. On 10/25/24 he was rushed into emergency surgery due to having free air in his abdomen which was discovered by an ultrasound that was done. During this procedure they discovered a large portion of his stomach and esophagus were dead and needed to be removed. He was then transferred to Butterworth Hospital via air med where they began his care. He went in for exploratory surgery and due to the loss of blood flow they put the reattachment surgery of his intestines, stomach, and esophagus on hold until Michael's body could handle such an intense major surgery. He has been surgically sedated and on a ventilator and feeding tube since 10/25/24. We will update regularly as things happen.
