Urgent support for Thomas Henn's emergency surgery

I'm Thomas Henn's niece. As many of you know, Uncle Tommy has been in the Philippines for about six months now. He just had an emergency surgery for a ruptured appendix. The surgery was about 5 hours long. He is out of surgery now and recovering but needs a blood transfusion right away and needs to remain in the hospital for at least five days.

The way the hospitals work in the PI (and most countries that do not accept our US health insurance), everything must be paid in advance. They will not administer any medication, medical care, emergency life-saving treatment, or pain meds without pre-payment. He needs to stay in the hospital for at least another five days.

After he is discharged from the hospital, he will need to stay in the area for a week, so he can be close to the hospital for follow-up care and emergency. It is a very bumpy, 4-hour bus ride for him to get back home from the hospital.

As of right now, we are estimating the needs as $3,000.

We estimate the total hospital bill to be approximately $116,530 pesos, which is $1991 US. The total cost of the surgery (hospital plus professional fees) is approximately $1,500. Blood transfusion is $300, other labs, tests, and meds are approximately $50. Between $400-$500 for the hospital room for 6-7 days. And then we are adding in the cost of a hotel and follow-up Dr. appointment for one week post-hospitalization, and medications. We will update costs as we know them and will adjust the amount if needed.

We know Uncle Tommy is loved by many and has loved and helped so many people in every community he has been in. Right now, he needs all of our help to get him this critical medical care and recovery time.
