**Urgent Support Needed for Oglesby Firefighter Cody Hazelwood**

On Thursday, August 15, 2024, while responding to a call to assist an Oglesby citizen in need, our dedicated firefighter Cody Hazelwood was involved in a devastating single-vehicle accident, resulting in traumatic injuries. The Oglesby Fire Department responded immediately, administering aid to one of their own with the utmost care and concern.

Cody’s journey to recovery will be long and challenging. He faces multiple surgeries, extensive physical therapy, and a multitude of medical expenses. We humbly ask the Oglesby community to come together and consider donating to help offset the mounting medical bills Cody will face in the coming months.

At this time, Cody is expected to remain in the ICU for several weeks, followed by a rigorous physical therapy regimen before he can return home. His recovery will require him to be out of work for several months, and while we do not yet have a timeline for when he might return to the fire department, we are confident that with the grace of God and the support of this community, Cody will one day be back serving alongside us.

Cody’s dad Dave Hazelwood will be set up as the beneficiary of the GoFundMe account while Cody is in the hospital and going through physical therapy. Dave has a joint account set up with Cody to help manage the funds after Cody is released and sent home so they can ensure that the money will be used to help Cody with the things that he will need that may not be covered under insurance.
