Urgent Support Needed for Ten Acre Garden

Help Ten Acre Garden Recover from Devastating Flood

On Friday, September 27th, at 9:00 AM, our farm flooded. It was unprecedented since The Ten Acre Garden has been open. We were shocked, scared, and uncertain about what would happen.

Thankfully, Morgan, Cindy, Phoenix, and our little “interns” (our twin toddlers) were safe, huddled in a hotel room in Waynesville. Cindy's sister and I stayed behind to keep an eye on the farm and our home, hoping for the best as the water rose. The house, by some miracle, was unscathed. The water literally parted around the house, and not even a drop went into the basement or inside. We feel so fortunate and blessed that our personal living situation is still intact when so many have lost everything.

Our farm, on the other hand, got a one-two punch. In addition to losing around 70% of our strawberry plants, we are also losing the revenue that usually comes in this time of year. But by far, the biggest impact is the strawberry plants. We were counting on this being our biggest cash crop of 2025.

We lost not only the plants but also the drip tape, plastic mulch, fertilizer, irrigation parts, and labor to plant the original 20,000 plants we had purchased. On top of that, we still need to cover the cost of the new plants, as well as the expense of re-installing all the equipment and cleaning up the mess left behind.

In order to save our 2025 strawberry season, we need to act fast. The next 10 days are critical for planting and preparing the fields. We are turning to you, our community, for help during this difficult time.

We know that many of you have faced hardships of your own, and asking for support is never easy. But if you’re able to contribute, your kindness will directly help us rebuild what we’ve lost and ensure that we can continue providing fresh, local produce for our community. Every dollar brings us one step closer to recovery.

If you aren’t able to donate, sharing this fundraiser with others would mean the world to us.

Thank you for standing with us through this difficult time. We are deeply grateful for this community that we call home.

With love and gratitude,
Mark, Morgan, Cindy, and The Ten Acre Garden Family
