My name is Alena and I am fundraising to save my best friend.
Waffles is being crippled from IVDD, a condition that compresses the discs in his back and has left him unable to move his back legs and losing control of his bowel movements. His quality of life is rapidly declining and without spinal surgery, euthanasia is quickly becoming a reality.
He needs emergency spinal surgery which has a 93% success rate for him to regain motor functioning and pretty much return him to his happy self. The alternative is a rapid decline where euthanasia would be the outcome.
The cost of this life-saving procedure is $6,000, which I currently can’t afford. I have applied for care credit, but it only covers a fraction of the total. I have spent $500 on essential diagnostics, blood work, and medication, but ultimately he needs surgery. Any donations will be going towards his medical treatment and follow up visits.
The thought of losing him due to money while there is a surgery that can save him tears me apart. I am asking for help to save him. Anything helps, truly.
He is my best friend, my companion, and my emotional support. He has helped me with depression, anxiety, loss, and grief. He has also been there for my college graduation, hikes, trips to the beach, travels through many different cities, and so much more.
I am desperate to save him. I know we still have more adventures and many more icecream runs to go on . It would mean everything to me for any help. Anything at all. Thank you all.
