Life-Saving surgery for Amanda

Hello, my name is Amanda Manjarres Salgado. I live in Merida, Venezuela with my husband and only daughter.

For more than three years, I have been suffering from a severe pain in my right leg, to the point it has become almost impossible for me to get around anymore.

After multiple medical examinations, the doctors found a large pelvic retroperitoneal tumor in the pelvic-gluteal area.

Due to its continuously increaseing size, the retropireneal tumor in the pelvic area the growth, has unfortunately, become life threatening as it is now putting pressure on my sciatic nerve, uterus, ovaries, rectum, and other organs.

Because of the health crisis here in Venezuela, which is no secret to the world, I have been placed on a 600 plus-patient waiting list at the Oncology Unit of the University Hospital(Hospital Universitario de losAndes) jn the city of Merida.

Nonetheless, as time goes by, while I wait for my turn, not only do the odds continue to stack up against me, but the chronic and unmanageable pain diminishes my quality of life by the day as it has become so severe to the point that no pain medication suffices.

My only other option is by going to a private clinic, but in a poverty-stricken country such as Venezuela, sadly, this is not an option for the majority of us.

In view of such an imminent threat to my life and circumstances, I decided to create this fundraiser as it is my only hope in order to have the procedure done before it is too late.

It is for this reason that my family and I are appealing to your compassion and generosity by asking if you can find it in your heart to help me with a donation, no matter how big or small, and/or by sharing this campaign in order to reach more compassionate donors like yourself.

Only this way, God willing, can this trying moment of my life be a nightmare from the past.

Hola, mi nombre es Amanda Manjarres Salgado. Vivo en Mérida, Venezuela con mi esposo y mi única hija.

Desde hace más de tres años sufro un fuerte dolor en la pierna derecha, hasta el punto de que ya me resulta casi imposible moverme.

Después de múltiples exámenes médicos, los médicos encontraron un gran tumor pélvico retroperitoneal en el área pélvico-glútea.

Debido a su tamaño cada vez mayor, el tumor retropirrenal en el área pélvica, desafortunadamente, se ha convertido en una amenaza para mi vida, ya que ahora está ejerciendo presión sobre mi nervio ciático, útero, ovarios, recto y otros órganos.

Debido a la crisis de salud aquí en Venezuela, que no es un secreto para el mundo, me han colocado en una lista de espera de más de 600 pacientes en la Unidad de Oncología del Hospital Universitario de los Andes en la ciudad de Mérida.

Sin embargo, a medida que pasa el tiempo, mientras espero mi turno, no sólo las probabilidades continúan acumulándose en mi contra, sino que el dolor crónico e inmanejable disminuye mi calidad de vida día a día, ya que se ha vuelto tan severo al punto que ningún analgésico es suficiente.

Mi única otra opción es ir a una clínica privada, pero en un país asolado por la pobreza como Venezuela, lamentablemente, esta no es una opción para la mayoría de nosotros.

En vista de una amenaza tan inminente para mi vida y mis circunstancias, decidí crear esta recaudación de fondos ya que es mi única esperanza para realizar el procedimiento antes de que sea demasiado tarde.

Es por esta razón que mi familia y yo apelamos a su compasión y generosidad preguntándole si puede encontrar en su corazón ayudarme con una donación, no importa cuán grande o pequeña sea, y/o compartiendo esta campaña para para llegar a donantes más compasivos como usted.

Sólo así, si Dios quiere, este momento difícil de mi vida podrá convertirse en una pesadilla del pasado.
