Urgent Help Needed for Teacher Sarah

Donation protected
To know her is to love her, but a million times more if you are two or three years old! Any parent or toddler who has had the blessing of being a student of Teacher Sarah knows that she leads with her whole heart. She has poured her soul into Mountain School, the mountain community, and all those she loves. She puts others before herself time and time again; she is kind, humble, and the most joyful human you'll ever meet!

Teacher Sarah has touched the lives of so many people in our community, and it's time to pay it forward in her time of need. I'm calling on our school and mountain community to rally around her to ease the financial burden that her accident and family care needs present.

On Tuesday, February 27 afternoon, Sarah was walking in downtown Los Gatos when she was hit by a large pickup truck. She was immediately taken to Valley Medical Trauma Center, where the fantastic doctors and nurses treated her brain injury, multiple broken ribs, and broken shoulder. She was admitted to the surgical ICU under close monitoring for the traumatic brain injury (TBI).

Over the last thirteen days, Sarah has experienced a roller coaster of symptoms related to the TBI while undergoing intensive rehabilitation for her broken shoulder and the extreme trauma her body went through. Sarah's recovery will be long and challenging and requires in-home help that Medicare insurance can not cover. A police report for the driver of the vehicle that hit her is still under investigation, and recovering finances from him is unknown. In addition to Sarah's long recovery ahead, she faces continued long-term care needs for her husband, Fred Glover.

Fred was diagnosed with Dementia a couple of years ago and has steadily declined over the last six months. No longer able to care for him at home, Sarah spent months finding a facility that would provide Fred with the care, dignity, and safety Sarah had provided him for the last few years. Unfortunately, Fred's condition continues to decline, and he is in immediate need of 24-hour, one-on-one care for his safety and well-being, as well as a new facility that can better meet his needs. This personalized care is prohibitively expensive at over $1,000 per day for a one-on-one caregiver and more than $6,000 monthly for a small-bed long-term care facility.

Both Sarah and Fred need their community now more than ever. This request does not come easily to Sarah and pushes her fiercely independent self outside her comfort zone in more ways than she can express.

We ask that you continue to keep Sarah & Fred in your thoughts and prayers. Sarah knows how much she is loved and can not thank you enough for all your support. We truly have a wonderful community and can feel the love and prayers you are sending us.

Let's show Teacher Sarah's family some love and support from her school, mountain community, and beyond!

A Caring Bridge journal has been set up to allow virtual well-wishes and keep everyone updated on Sarah's recovery.
