"Urgently Trying to Evacuate Our Whole Family from Gaza
Donation protected

My name is Yousra El-Hassnat. A teacher from the Gaza Strip. Here I will share my story.
“My home has been destroyed and I have been alongside many struggling refugees.
Having been displaced multiple times already and with two homes having been destroyed in less than two years, I want to leave and dream of safety on the other side of the Rafah crossing.
Staying in a home with more than 130 people, I feel there is no longer a safe space in Gaza.”
Here I will share the most traumatic experience I have been to:
"I held my little niece’s hands and we ran, ordered to evacuate our building in the sunlight. Warplanes hovered over our heads, children screamed, and the ground shook as if it were an earthquake.
We knew we were going to get killed by the Israeli army. Face to face! One of us had received a call from an Israeli occupation officer, ordering us to evacuate my aunt’s home at Al-Maghazi along with the rest of the residents in the building, including us. Before fleeing, I took one long, last look

"I held my little niece’s hands and we ran, ordered to evacuate our building at the crack of dawn. Warplanes hovered over our heads, children screamed, and the ground shook as if it was dancing. We knew we are going to get killed by the Israeli army. Face to face! One of us had received a call from an Israeli occupation officer, ordering us to evacuate my aunt’s home at Al-Maghazi along with the rest of the residents in the building, including us. Before fleeing, I took one long, last look at my father before taking him to the unknown.
We lingered in the street for an hour, unsure where to go and unable to fully leave the place we were staying. The warplanes circled continuously over our heads, and I told the little kids to cover their ears. I wet my clothes, I was so afraid of dying. Everyone on the street looked at each other as if it would be the last time.”
Crossing through the Rafah border is said possible for foreign passport holders or those that can pay the $5000 fee per person
