Hello, I’m Heather, a single mom from Newfoundland, Canada. I’m reaching out because my daughter, Zoey, needs help—help that we can’t find here in our province.

Zoey has been dealing with a mysterious and painful illness for years, but recently, her symptoms have worsened. Every day, she endures headaches, chronic pain, and intense inflammation in her neck, shoulders, and ribs. While doctors believe it could be an autoimmune disease affecting her nervous system, they haven’t been able to diagnose or treat her condition effectively. At just 19 years old, she’s losing the chance to experience a healthy, carefree life, and I am watching her enter adulthood in pain with no clear answers.

To manage, we’ve been paying for weekly physiotherapy, chiropractic visits, pain medications, and muscle relaxants, all out of pocket. But without a diagnosis, these treatments are only temporary solutions, and they come at a high cost. It feels like we’re racing against time as her illness continues to progress.

After countless hours of research and speaking with healthcare professionals, I believe our best option is to relocate to Alberta. There, Zoey could gain access to the specialized care she desperately needs, including the Neuroimmunology Clinic, which could offer us the expertise we’ve been missing. But making this move—physically, emotionally, and financially—is overwhelming, and I can’t do it alone.
