Veteran & Family needs Flood Help
Donation protected
My name is John Sandherr, I live in Cranberry Twp Pa and my wife Debra and I are trying to raise money for our Son and his family ( our grandchildren ). Hurricane Florence caused flooding over the entire first floor of their home. ALL money will be used for Flood related damage ( Drywall, Lumber, Plastic, Fans, Dehumidifier, Protective Clothing etc. ) and when needed it would also include food and anything the kids will need to stay safe and healthy.
My son Matthew C. Sandherr - a USMC Vet of Iraq & Afghanistan decided to make his home in North Carolina and raise his family ( 6 children ) along with his wife Shea.
Less than a year ago they moved into a new home in Hampstead North Carolina ( Pender County ) - Pender has been declared a Disaster Area. I asked Matt how bad it was down there - " Dad, its like a war broke out down here " was his reply. The house will be 1 year old in November.
Matt & Family drove to our home in Cranberry Twp. Pa. to avoid the Storm. After 5 days they returned home to what looked like minor damage - once inside they realized - the ENTIRE first floor had been flooded.
A call went out to the "Raider Project" by Matt's brother Michael ( also a US Marine Veteran ) - a group of US Marine Veterans that help other Veterans - they are pictured with Matt and his Family. Mold was growing and it was imperative to remove everything wet: Floor, Carpet Drywall - everything. The Raider Project was there to help with the removal and stop the Mold.
Matt and his wife Shea have 6 children to protect and feed. Right now the money is needed for Flood related damage and repair work. I spoke to Matt and he is mostly worried about keeping the Kids healthy, Supplies for cleanup, More demolition and paying all the costs that were caused by the Storm. How much is enough after your home is flooded ?
Funds will be needed by the Family very soon - Matts job is on HOLD so he will use that time to make the house safe and clean, he's a WORKER and isn't accustomed to NOT driving to work everyday.
When Matt first told me that he was joining the MARINES, I asked him why and he responded - " I want my life to make a difference "
So now I'm asking if people can help make a difference in Matts life and the Life of his Family.
Today 9/9/18 Pender County was issued a " State of Emergency " after Hurricane Michael picks up more wind and rain. More rain will mean more devastation to the North Carolina coast.
Thank you - and please contact me by email with any questions or concerns about this posting. I can be reached through the Go Fund Me site.
Thanks,
John J Sandherr
