Help Us Move Haven, We're Being Kicked Out!

Hello! We are a small, local cafe + spa that started with the goal of creating a safe space for all who enter. We wanted to create a workplace that cultivated creativity + joy for our staff- and therefore the community we serve.

From the food we make, the quality of ingredients we use, the products we carry, to the space itself- you are safe here.

We opened in August of 2020- and while navigating opening a business is tough- doing so throughout a pandemic was tougher. Our cafe has quickly grown to be known for a city famous breakfast sammy, the spot for lattes made with organic, house made syrups + pastries, and a safe place to land :)

Our spa concept has faced repeated issues with the Kentucky Board of Cosmetology, as it has proven to be virtually impossible to gain licensure and grow our staff to accommodate the demand. We considered moving across the river to Ohio, but due to limited resources and the extensive buildout of our space invested to meet code requirements, we persevered. We even worked with a local representative to pass a bill to remedy this, and it passed! A few months later we found out the bill effectively changed nothing- and we were back at square one.

As our lease came to an end in August this year, our spaces were sold.

We requested transparency of the future plans from the new landlord of our spaces- communicating that our staff's financial security was our top priority and we would begin making other arrangements if they had intentions other than being the new landlord.

We were told that we would be kicked out of our sister spa concept, but we were assured that they wanted the cafe to stay. Since we utilize both spaces + they work symbiotically- we were unsure of if this would be able to work.

We pitched a short-term lease to trial how working alongside a different business would work, and we agreed this would be best for both parties to troubleshoot any issues that could arise within that timeframe.

We were presented with a 3 year lease, responded with a few questions, and while waiting for a response, we received a notice stating we are being kicked out of both our spaces in 30 days- effectively closing both our businesses rapidly.

We expect to have a small window between reopening in a new space, and we want to ensure financial security of our team.

We didn't give up despite each road block and we aren't giving up now.

Thankfully we've been looking for a bigger, better space to serve our community and expand- as we've outgrown our space- and we are working on getting it ready for all of you!

Absolutely any amount helps us to fund relocation, build out + moving expenses, and to pay our staff in the interim.
