Help us pay our dads medical bills please!

Hi, my name is caitlyn and i’m helping raise money for my dad medical bills. On the 30th June 2024, my family went on a holiday to turkey which my dad had paid for as it was nephews first abroad holiday and really wanted a break away to have a nice time. When flying on the plane they started to realise my dad wasn’t very well and he had this horrible pain in his head that just wasn’t going away. Because my dad was recently suffering with headaches they didn’t think much of it and just kept an eye on his eating and taking it slow around the resort. A few days went by and he was getting worse and then suddenly he managed to get ready and have a walk to the beach with everyone. We was so happy and thought he was getting better. Then, on Friday 5th July, the worst happened. My mom said to my dad how do you feel, he replied with “ i feel like i’m dying”, and instantly the hotel phoned an ambulance and he was rushed straight to the hospital. He went for a CT scan and an MRI, which is costing £1,200, and they explained he had a massive tumour covering 80% of his brain. It was the size of a melon, and it was crushing his brain. They said he was 2 hours away from death and he needed to go to surgery otherwise he wouldn’t make it. My family said their goodbyes and he said to my mom “i don’t want to be in pain anymore, i just want to go to sleep”. Hearing those words from your husband and for us, our dad, was absolutely heartbreaking. The surgery was planned to be 2 hours long and ended up being 7 hours with around 7 surgeons who we cannot thank enough. A miracle happened and they managed to remove the whole of the tumour. However more bad news came. Where the tumour had been sitting, underneath it had made a pool of blood. Straight after the surgery my dad was put into an induced coma which they wanted him in for, for 24 hours. However as they want to keep an eye on this bleed, they said each night he will go for a CT scan and may have to have another surgery. It then changed to 3 days in an induced coma, and after those three days they would slowly start to bring him round to see how his brain will react. The surgeon is worried that he may have a brain disease and if so he will only have a short time to live. However he is medication to try and prevent this disease. We need this bleeding to stop as soon as possible because each day his brain cells could be dying. The 7th July me and my sister booked a one way ticket to turkey to go and see our dad. The next day, Monday 8th we flew our to our mom. We was stuck 3,000 miles away and had to find out from a phone call from our mom, and being told to prepare for the worst as he was so close to death absolutely broke our heart into pieces. We felt useless and all we wanted was to see our dad. On the 8th July, they slightly reduced the sedation just to see how my dads brain would react. They called his name and he slightly moved his arm, showing there is still hope and he is doing his absolute best to fight for his family. Then, on the 9th, they reduced it a tiny bit more, and he was trying to swallow and still moving his arm. And not just little movements, he actually used his strength and picked up his arm and moved it as if he was trying to hold our hands. This means the more movements he does the more brain cells that are still alive which is what we need. Being so young, and seeing my dad in intensive care for 10 minutes out of the whole day is the worst thing possible. Words can’t explain how much i just want to bring him home. But we can all see he is trying and trying to wake up and fight this. As soon as he heard mine and my sisters voices, he fully opened his one eye and wouldn’t stop moving his arm. This made us so happy, even just knowing that he knows we are there and we aren’t going anywhere. However, the surgeon wanted to put him fully back into the coma, for another 3 days, as he needs more rest. But the doctor said to us not to expect absolutely anything for the first 5 days and he managed to move a little which is very very good news to us. This is a very long process for us and will take a lot of time but we are being strong for him. This meant a lot there are a lot of bills, including, extra hotel stay, £60,000 for his surgery, around £5,000 for all of his scans, £800 each day he is in the hospital. As much as this is about me sharing my story it’s also a reminder that anything can happen at any time unexpectedly, and to please cherish every moment you can with your family and loved ones because i would do anything to be sitting at home with my dad again. It’s also a reminder to keep having faith and hope, because if i didn’t have that i wouldn’t of been able to keep being strong for my dad. And there is always hope left. So far my dad is still in an induced coma, and the hospital have told us if we can’t pay his £70,000 medical bill by tomorrow, they will stop the care for him. Each day is a 50/50 chance of him living, and we need this bill payed as soon as to help my dad and bring him home to his family! Before anyone asks about insurance, they are dragging their feet with us, and won’t get in contact with the hospital at all and won’t speak to us for 5-10 days and we need money for tomorrow. Because of the ambulance taking him to a private hospital as that was the closest one, they may not cover the medical bills. When we say any little thing helps, we mean it! Thankyou for helping.
