Rebuild a Lodge for a Sustainable Future in Sri Lanka

Donation protected
Hi our names are PETER EASTWOOD and PHILIP SETH.

Please help us raise C$25,000 for our dear friends in Sri Lanka. We are rebuilding their family lodge to help them achieve self-sufficiency once again. We have been successful in building the two units thanks to the generosity of our friends and family; they now have roofs and staircases. We now need to raise more funds to finish plastering both the inside and outside of the huts and to install the plumbing and electrics.

Sri Lanka has faced immense challenges in recent years:
• The tragic Easter bombings of April 21, 2019.
• The global COVID-19 pandemic.
• Political unrest, which further devastated the tourism industry.

These events took a heavy toll on families relying on tourism, including our friends, who ran a small but beautiful lodge. Their livelihood was deeply impacted.

Thankfully, Sri Lanka is now seeing a positive resurgence. Tourism is booming again, offering a renewed opportunity to rebuild what was lost. By supporting this project, you’ll not only help a family regain stability but also contribute to the local economy and sustainable tourism in this breathtaking country.

Construction Progress and Vision:

Construction has already begun on two new guest rooms, designed with a focus on resilience and sustainability. These rooms are being built with stronger, more durable materials to withstand the tropical environment, reducing long-term maintenance costs and ensuring the lodge’s sustainability for years to come.

The new rooms are tailored to attract younger traveller's, including backpackers, who seek affordable, shared accommodations while immersing themselves in a unique jungle experience. By blending comfort, affordability, and an authentic connection to nature, these rooms will appeal to eco-conscious travellers and adventurers looking for something special.
