December 17, 2020 - Fierce category five Cyclone Yasa was carrying wind speeds of up to 240kph when it made landfall on the island of Vanua Levu, with wind gusts of up to 345kph, Fiji's meteorological service said.
The evacuation centers hosted 23,479 people and 3,316 households.
Colorado State University meteorologist Phil Klotzbach said Cyclone Yasa is the most powerful storm to form in the 2020-2021 tropical season so far.
