In less than a month, the best Ski Mountaineering (Skimo) Athletes on the planet will converge in Boí Taüll, Spain to compete in the ISMF World Championships, starting on Feb 28.
Vying for titles will be 24 American men and women representing the USA Skimo team. These elite athletes have been training for months, even years, and many have spent the season so far competing in Europe alongside the world’s best. They have made it this far by their talent, determination, and grit - but they can’t continue to do it alone. That’s why USA Skimo is asking for your help in funding transportation ($50,000), room and board ($20,000), athlete licensing and registration ($15,000), and other related expenses for our team. Here is your chance to help support the USA national team and put more of our athletes on podiums!
While ski mountaineering racing (or skimo for short) has existed for decades, its popularity has exploded in recent years, culminating in its appointment as the newest Winter Olympic Sport. On July 20, 2021, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) unanimously approved to add Ski Mountaineering to the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games.
While the Olympics are still years away, our USA Skimo Athletes are already busy making history! Last season was the first time a US male athlete finished in the top 10 in an ISMF World Cup, including a 3rd Place podium finish! Not to be outdone, the US female athletes responded with an astonishing four podium finishes. This team is kicking ass and taking names - if you’re excited to see even more podium finishes this year and in years to come, this is your chance to “join the team” with a generous contribution.
Although USA Skimo is recognized by the International Olympic and US Olympic and Paralympic committees, we are an independent organization and receive no financial contributions from these groups, relying instead on donations from generous supporters like you. Every dollar counts and every dollar makes a difference.
Please help us achieve our initial fundraising goal of $100,000.
100% of your contributions will go to supporting the national team and USA Skimo staff, including:
- Essential ground transportation while in Spain;
- Room and board throughout the competition;
- Airfare and travel expenses incurred by athletes and volunteer staff, which are currently being paid out-of-pocket by our dedicated team.
USA Skimo is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization formed to support the sport in the USA and support USA Athlete’s domestic and international efforts. USA Skimo is recognized by the International Ski Mountain Federation (ISMF) as the sport’s governing body in the USA. USA Skimo is run completely by volunteers. If you’d like to help, reach out!
Thanks for considering supporting USA Skimo, and GO USA!!
