Isla's Road to Recovery

Hi, my name is Amy and I have set up this GoFundMe to support my beautiful friend Isla as she goes through treatment to beat her recently diagnosed breast cancer. Funds raised will go directly to Isla, her husband Trevor and their beautiful boys Bailey and Freddie to assist them with things such as day to day items, rent, bills, petrol, food, formula for Freddie, etc.

I have known Isla for 17 years and can say without a doubt she is the most generous, selfless person I have ever met - I am sure many who read this and know her will agree. Instead of dwelling on her recent diagnosis, she and Trevor have since set up a Facebook page and an Instagram page (I will link these below) where they can share her journey - the good, the bad and the in between - to hopefully spread awareness of cancer, particularly breast cancer, and remind people to get checked if anything seems off or different.

Below is words from Isla as to how they got to this point....

On the 15th of August, after a scan 5 days earlier, I was given the devastating news that I have an aggressive form of breast cancer. It is heartbreaking to share this news when we are getting ready to enjoy and celebrate the birth of our second son.

Being pregnant (32 weeks at scan) the body changes so much, but when something didn’t feel right I thought I better go and get checked. What I thought would be a 20 minute scan with a possible infection turned into a 2 hour appointment, with the doctor taking biopsies and informing me that they‘re pretty sure the lumps are cancer. This was the confirmed diagnosis only a week later.

I want my diagnosis and my road to recovery to raise awareness, but most importantly be a catalyst for others to make sure they get checked. Following this simple advice may help to save your life or someone close to you. If in any doubt, please, please get checked.

As I start my chemo treatment this page will be a place to track our journey and for those asking how they can support. There are going to be some really tough and draining days ahead, so know that even if we don’t reply to your messages, they are always read and so incredibly appreciated.
