Smiles 4 Miles Prather

Miles Prather suffered a stroke while driving home from class on October 9th. Miles was transported by air to Maryland Shock Trauma in Baltimore, where he underwent surgery to remove a clot from both his neck and brain. While the surgeons were able to remove the clot in his neck, they were unable to remove the one from his brain. Miles has since undergone additional procedures, most recently surgery to reduce swelling in his brain. Miles is sedated and on a ventilator, but is able to respond to  commands when the sedation is reduced. The doctors are working to determine the cause of the stroke, allowing for focus on his recovery.

The road ahead will likely be a long one for Miles and his family; a marathon and not a sprint. Many have reached out  asking how they can help.   As such, I have created this campaign, with hopes that funds can be used by Miles' family to reduce the expenses they will encounter- gas to and from the hospital,  meals, and mounting medical expenses.  This tragic event came without warning, turning the world upside for his parents, Melissa & Monty, and his sister, Maya. I've had the honor of being friends with Melissa since 4th grade, and have watched Miles grow into the amazing young man he is today.
