Reagan Strong

Update 9/22- Reagan has been working hard now that she is on the rehabilitation floor (that’s right, she graduated from the PICU!) and reminding us daily at how strong willed and determined she is! She has PT, OT and Speech, each twice a day and the only support she has left is her feeding tube, which is next on the list to graduate from .

Your continued support of love and generosity is beyond appreciated and again, we just cannot thank everyone enough ❤️

Update 9/13-
We are still so overwhelmed
by the outpouring of support, generosity and love our family continues to receive daily, it truly means so much to us.
Reagan continues to show us just how strong she is! She’s been communicating with her yes and no head nods and some questionable facial expressions to let us know when she is not a fan of something. While she is still pretty sedated, she is breathing on her own and has been removed from the ventilator. PT and OT have some great plans for her and they’ve been able to start working with her daily to start to build back her strength.

Again, we cannot thank everyone enough ❤️.

Reagan’s Story-
On August 26, 10-year old Reagan Kotzian was doing what she absolutely loved to do—she was cheering on the sideline at the Milford Mustangs game. It was the first game of the season and she was beyond excited to get back at it for her 5th year on the cheer team. During the second half of the game, a terribly painful headache set in, and Reagan was rushed to Mott Children’s Hospital. At Mott doctors discovered that she had a brain arteriovenous malformation (AVM) that ruptured and caused her to have a brain hemorrhage. They immediately took her into surgery for an emergency operation. Later that evening, it was determined that it was necessary for Reagan to be put into a medically induced coma to help reduce brain swelling. Reagan spent the next several days in the PICU, which was beyond agonizing for her parents, Lauren and Kevin, who were waiting to learn about next steps for their beautiful, strong, courageous, and fierce Reagan.

We are confident that the love, support, and prayers from family, friends, and the community, as well as the brilliant doctors and nurses at Mott Children’s Hospital, have helped the Kotzian family get through this nightmarishly long and painful week. But there is still a very long road ahead, which is why we set up this GoFundMe Fundraiser.

Reagan will need several rehabilitations in the very near future, and will have brain surgery down the line to repair the AVM in her brain. These monetary donations will help to offset some of the astronomical costs of the medical bills, the rehabilitation costs, gas for when they’re going to the hospital and doctor appointments, and any other uncertainties of the future.
