First Year Independent Percussion Music Program
Donation protected
We are very excited to begin the journey and experience of Indoor Percussion at UTRGV. Our ensembles have grown tremendously in the past 5 years, and we are continuing to expand and grow!
The Rio Grande Valley is one of the lowest income areas in the United States. The median household income is $31,077, and 37.7% of our community lives below the poverty line. We are committed to keeping membership fees low and manageable for our members while still providing a quality experience for the members and staff; to do so, we need financial support.
This year we are planning on taking our ensemble to compete in Dayton Ohio, for WGI Championships, as well as multiple other competitions such as WGI Houston, WGI Dallas, TCGC Edinburg, and more. Our ensemble will begin competing this season as an Independent Percussion A class and will be debuting on February 4th at Edinburg High School. (UPDATE: We have been promoted to Independent Open Class for the 2023 season! as of March 17th!)
With this, we are asking our community to help us start up our program for the 2023 competitive season. Starting a new indoor group means starting from scratch. Purchasing uniforms, equipment, floor, drill, and more. Every cent makes a world of a difference for our students and musicians!
Our ensemble is currently fundraising for our transportation to Dayton. Which is currently estimated to cost us about $13,000 And are also looking for donations to acquire:
- A Drum Set Cart for Front Ensemble
- Sound System
- Uniforms
- Floor/Tarp
- Box Truck
- New Cymbals
- and various other expenses that may arise throughout the season.
We are thrilled to keep promoting the Rio Grande Valley in the marching arts, continue to proudly be The Valley's Drumline, and continue to expand to provide future homes to percussionists all around the RGV.
We hope to see you at a local show soon!
V's Up!
