Hello everyone!!

We are the UTRGV Trombone Choir and this year we were selected as one of the student ensembles to perform at the 2022 International Trombone Festival, in Conway, Arkansas.

The UTRGV Trombone Choir enjoys performing at events and conferences at the local, state, national, and international levels. Some of the ensemble’s most recent performances include Trombonanza in Santa Fe, Argentina (August 2019), the International Trombone Festival in Muncie, Indiana (July 2019), the Big 12 Trombone Conference in Lubbock, TX (January 2019), the Texas Music Educators Association Conference in San Antonio, TX (February 2018), and the American Trombone Workshop in Fort Meyer, Virginia (March 2018).

Other international performance opportunities that were not made possible by the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic included an invitation to perform at Tourbon music festival in Santiago, Chile (January 2020) and the International Trombone Festival in Osaka, Japan (Summer 2020).

The UTRGV Trombone Choir seeks to perform traditional and new music. For ITF 2022, the UTRGV Trombone Choir commissioned a work entitled Lost Utterances by Dr. Justin Writer and we are eager to present the world premiere at this year’s festival. We are equally excited to have Peter Steiner join our ensemble as a guest soloist on Hymn to a Blue Hour by John Mackey. In addition to these two works, we look forward to presenting Full Tilt by Anthony DiLorenzo and The Evil God and the Dance of the Pagan Monsters, from Scythian Suite, by Sergei Prokofiev, and arranged by Christian Paarup.

We kindly ask for donations to help support our trombone choir for lodging and transportation. This trip is a great developmental and educational opportunity for the students in the ensemble, as they will have the opportunity to attend masterclasses, lectures, and performances presented by trombone pedagogues, enthusiasts, professors, and professional artists from all over the world. Attendance at this week-long festival is a once in a lifetime opportunity that will greatly enhance the education of the students as performers and future educators.

Any help is greatly appreciated, and we thank you in advance for your support of the UTRGV Trombone Choir!
