Jackie's Medical Expenses

Over Thanksgiving weekend I went on a last minute motocycle riding trip to Hungry Valley SVRA. I didn't know then that I'd be more thankful after that weekend than I have been in a long time. It was an accident that could have happened to anyone - I was riding my 1988 KX-250 on a two way trail when I hit a side by side head on, hitting the roll bar and flipping off my bike. I had to be airlifted out of the Valley and flown to Ventura County Medical Center where I stayed for eight days, six of which were in ICU.
As thankful as I am for being up and moving, it's hard to believe how serious the accident was; I had my spleen removed, punctured a lung, broke seven ribs and a wrist, and sprained my left ankle. The staff at the hospital told me that my gear saved my life.
I am grateful for Eric Conde, my riding buddy, who got me help and all the rangers and neighbors who helped get me where I needed to go. I am so thankful for the medical staff that saved my life and dealt with my stubbornness while I wandered around the unit before I was supposed to be out of bed. My family and friends have given an outpouring of love and support and I can't say how much that has meant to me and continues to give me inspiration.
For everyone who's going to ask if I'm going to stop riding, the answer is definitely no. Now I have a reason to buy more parts and get the bike fixed and in better shape than ever. If you know me at all, you know that I'm not the type to run from fear or to have this keep me from getting back onto the bike - it wasn't how I was raised.
It isn't easy for me to ask for help like this, but with the helicopter ride, medical bills, and ongoing perscriptions, physical therapy, and other expenses, we need some help bouncing back from this one. Any help you offer will go to paying down these bills - the full capicity of which we aren't even sure of yet. Thank you all in advance for your help and kind thoughts during this time. I can't tell you all enough how much it means to me.
Sincerely,
Jackie McDaniel
