Reuben's Fight

Yesterday in the blink of an eye Reuben's little life took a drastic change in a matter of hours, a large tumour was found at the base of his brain with very little warning that anything was even wrong.

After presenting to Emergency at roughly 1pm and receiving the devastating news late afternoon, Rueben and his family were flown to Brisbane urgently.

Reuben is three years old, and my goodness is he the most outgoing little man you will meet, so full of life and energy, I mean just look at that smile.

Samantha & Max are the quiet achievers who give so much to others with out ever asking for anything in return the journey ahead for them is currently unknown, however we all know it will be a long time before they return to what once was there normal day to day life.

Today (4/10/21) Reuben underwent an MRI and a procedure to have a shunt placed to help remove the fluid that is currently surrounding his brain.

Tomorrow (5/10/21) Reuben will head in for surgery to have his 6cm tumour operated on, it is unknown until surgery begins as to how complicated this may be come, not only the surgery its self but the recovery and long term implications. Reuben's journey could look many different ways, over the next coming weeks and months.

I have seen first hand today alone how incredible the Mount Isa community can be, today alone so many businesses have put their hands forward and said how can we help! A HUGE fundraiser is in the works with some incredible prizes, so stay tuned for that. To those businesses you know who you are, THANK YOU! Some words directly from Samantha and Max " Max and I are in disbelief at the moment, never in a million years would we have expected this kind of support" I won't post the rest but put it this way in true Samantha style she was adamant they will be ok no matter how long the journey, but deep down I know we can do better than ok for them!

These guys despite being as strong as they are, will need our help and I know you guys want to offer it. Right now there world is just spinning but eventually things will settle and the pull will begin any way you can help ease that burden will be meet with such gratitude.
