Rebuilding our life with a family vehicle

Donation protected
In March of 2022, at 6 months pregnant I was involved in an accident that totaled our family vehicle. This occurred 2 weeks after I made the decision to walk away from a position I loved, but unfortunately was not providing what I needed financially for my family. Our lives were quickly turned upside down thereafter. We lost our home, and were faced with the difficult decision of relocating. To add fuel to the fire, finding employment in a new city proved very difficult for my husband and left us with no income for almost 6 mos. After the birth of our baby, we both were able to secure gainful employment in hopes of rebuilding. We saved as much as we could but with the inflated price of everything and childcare, there wasnt much left. Then in March of 2023 after only 5 mos with my company, they went through a period of layoffs and being the new girl I was the first to get chopped. In the midst of all this, we started having some concerns for our baby who seemed to be exhibiting behaviors that we had never seen before with our other children. I quickly made an appt with her pediatrician before my insurance expired and yet again, our life was turned upside down. We were recommended to be evaluated by Early Intervention of Alabama, and were told that our daughter had symptoms similar to those of a child that have suffered a stroke. We were referred to countless specialist and therapists, and it was confirmed that our daughter has right hemiparesis, which is caused by a stroke. She has significant developmental delays and little to no movement or ability to utilize the entire right side of her body. To insure the best future for Olivia, she is on a consistant schedule of a combination of daily and weekly in-office and home physical, behavioral and occupational therapy. This has left us with no option but to pivot and adjust to living on one income, which leaves absolutely nothing to be saved towards replacing our lost vehicle. For the time being, my mother has been gracious enough to let us utilize her vehicle but this is not a solution. Especially not long term as her car is too small for our family of 7. The road ahead is unknown as we are still in the early stages of Olivias diagnosis and how this will effect her long term. I never imagined in my wildest dreams that almost a year and a half after our wreck we would still be without a vehicle. With the crazy cost of cars and interest rates, we are hoping to buy something outright since the burden of a monthly payment is not feasible at this time. We are two of the hardest working individuals and could have never imagined any of what we are currently dealing with. I am not looking for a handout, but praying for a miracle through the kindness and generosity of my community to help us regain control over our life during a very difficult time.
