Student Vets @ UVA Afghan Refugee Donation Drive

Tax deductible
Regardless of their personal feelings about the withdrawal in Afghanistan, Veterans understand the perils that the people of Afghanistan are facing at this time. Many of these Afghanistan citizens assisted the United States government overseas and we believe that they deserve a chance at life and it is the United States' responsibility to do all that we can and not leave anyone behind. Our instinct is to act in a time like this and even though we're no longer wearing our uniforms, we're always actively looking for ways to be of service. For this reason, UVA's SVA is creating a drive to help meet the most basic needs of Afghan refugees, some of whom will arrive in the United States with nothing but the clothes on their back.

WHAT- Collecting toiletries and monetary donations.  Monetary donations will be sent to the IRC of Charlottesville.

WHERE - A booth will be set up outside of Newcomb Hall on UVA Grounds. Collection boxes will also be placed at the SVA lounge, 1515, and the Multicultural Center.

Additionally, these are items needed by the IRC:
-shampoo
-conditioner
-soap
-deodorant
-razors
-shaving cream
-toilet paper
-paper towels
-cleaning supplies

Thank you for your assistance during these difficult times.
