Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity

My name is Daniel Harris, most people know me as Dan.
I decided in July 2023 that I would take up a challenge to raise money for Charity.
I chose Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) as my Niece is currently under their care,
but not just for her, for all of the brave little souls under their care and those receiving their support.
GOSH does an amazing job of supporting children and their families through difficult times and challenges and all the while never giving up.
With that in mind, my challenge had to be worthy of such a worthy cause.
It had to be tough, something that would push me and something that had to be worked towards.
Something that reflected the hard work of GOSH.
My eureka moment came in September 2023, and I thought….
“I’m going to sign up for the Original Fan Dance Race Series Winer 2024”

A 24KM SAS Selection test march staged over Pen Y Fan, the highest peak in the Brecon Beacons.
A real endurance challenge of body, mind and soul, Complete with a 45lb back pack or bergen as its known in military terms.
I set a myself modest target to raise £500.00 as every little bit helps, and so, the training began.
I started running, training physically and mentally for the Fan Dance, logging over 94.8 miles of hill walking with a 20kg backpack and over 400 miles of running.
That’s roughly 75 hours over 3 months!
Whilst many could not see the appeal in my endeavour, I was dedicated.
Just like all of those at GOSH! Never giving up for a moment.

I completed the Fan Dance on 6th January 2024 and it delivered all that it promised Gruelling, challenging, tough and certainly not just a walk in the park.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.
Please feel free to share the link far and wide, and if I exceed the target, I’ll sign up again for Fan Dance Challenge Summer 2024!

Thank you in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to me.
