UW Student Needs Help After Tree Smashes Car While Driving

Donation protected
I was the driver of this blue Hyundai on the night of 11/19/2024, when the bomb cyclone blew through Seattle.

This was the scariest thing I ever experienced. I was driving down 35th ave (which was pitch black at the time, lights were out for the nearly the whole stretch of 35th from UW to Lake City) around 7:20pm, and as I'm driving down the incline near 100th st I saw, at the top of my windshield, the tree's body falling. I slumped back and down in my seat at the very last second as it smashes through the roof, which caves in deeply but somehow just narrowly missed my head. I was quick enough then to put the car in park and try to register what just happened.

I survived without a scratch but the tree had pinned both doors shut. Thankfully some strangers had gotten out of their cars/houses to check on me and call 911. I moved over to the passenger seat, which had more room, to see if I could get out there but no luck.

Eventually fire arrived but had to wait for an additional unit before they could get to work (which was an excruciating wait). They eventually cribbed the tree and pulled a door off so I was able to get out.

I was very happy to sleep in my bed that night.

Unfortunately, this also means I'm out of a car. Therefore I'm hoping to raise some money to help with the payment towards a new one.
