Linda Arundelli, a loving presence in the Atlanta LGBTQ community, needs our help.
Linda is a thrilled new grandmother, and a devoted mother of four, who up until recently was working towards receiving her pension next year, after which she will be financially able to work part-time and to enjoy her family.
A Kroger employee for 29 years, Linda was placed on medical leave due to a crushed vertebrae, just over a month ago. Although her sick pay has run out, Linda's pain is still preventing her from standing, one of the main requirements for her to return to work.
To further complicate her situation, in 2013 Linda was diagnosed with lymphoma, a slow-growing leukemia for which she needs to be treated sooner rather than later, and one of the main factors, if not the direct cause of her back injury.
Linda's doctors have urged her to rest, which is challenging to do at 70, with a job that requires some heavy lifting, and while caring for a son at home with his own medical needs.
In her absence, Kroger will continue to cover Linda's medical insurance, but not her expenses. If we can raise at least enough to cover Linda's necessities while her back recovers, she will be physically able to return to work while she undergoes chemotherapy. However, we are ideally hoping to raise enough funds to cover the duration of her back's recovery and chemo treatment, as we do not know yet how severe the side effects will be.
