Lilly's Cancer Treatment
Donation protected
Hi! My name is Taylor and I'm raising funds for my kitty's cancer treatment. My heart kitty, Lilly, has been diagnosed with Soft Cell Sarcoma on her lip.
A little back story, in May of 2022 my heart kitty was diagnosed with soft cell sarcoma on her lip. It was excised and sent for histopath confirming diagnosis, but with incomplete margins (as SCS tend to be). Consulted with an oncologist, and Electrochemotherapy (ECT) was recommended and/or surgery or radiation therapy. Radiation was completely out of budget, and recommended consulting with a surgical oncologist if that was at all in my treatment options. Consulted with a surgical oncologist, and he said he wasn't comfortable just digging in her face as there was no gross tumor present, recommended close monitoring for regrowth. Fast forward to May of 2023, regrowth was noted as swelling. Monitored closely at least every 3 months, and rapid growth noted (3mm to 8mm). Primary vet recommended another surgical consult.
Went up for the consult, and both surgery with ECT was recommended. Had questions if only ECT was an option, as pursuing both treatment options are cost-prohibitive for me (was quoted roughly $1800 for surgery, then $1500 for ECT). Went for a consult for only ECT today, and waiting for an estimate for the recommended 3 ECT treatments. The oncologist said if I were to pursue surgery only, regrowth was likely and would likely be more aggressive. Since her tumor is on her lip, not much tissue is available for additional surgeries after a second one, and recommended either surgery with ECT, or only 3 ECT treatments, with possible chance of regrowth. X-rays showed nothing significant, Blood panel including CBC/Chem were unremarkable.
In an ideal world, I'd pursue surgery with ECT, but working on a veterinary technician's salary, may not be feasible ever. I can apply for CareCredit, but no guarantee that it'll actually lighten the load of such a costly treatment.
With that said, she's my heart kitty and I want to pursue the best chances for her. She's 9 years old, and healthy as can be, other than the tumor. Does anyone have any experience with this kind of treatment? Does anyone have any recommendations for fundraising? I currently work full time as a tech, pet sit, and have two online jobs, but still can't swing both surgery and the ECT.
I'm so worried for Lilly and want the best for her, but just feel so helpless, and I want the best quality of life for her, for as long as possible.
All funds will be used for Lilly's treatments, recovery, medications, and further medical care.
