Julian's House Day Habilitation Program

Three years ago, my husband and I where set on the course to have our own business. Our plan was to open a Daiquiri Shop. However, if you want to make God laugh you should make a plan that does not align with his plans for you. Enter Julian’s House Day Activity Center!
Julian’s House is named after our son Julian. Born with a Grade IV bleed in his brain that led to Hydrocephalus, intellectual disability, Autism, ADHD, and a seizure disorder, Julian’s life journey was filled with bumps in the road from Day One. While being very active in Special Olympics and sports such as softball, swimming, and basketball, as well as graduating from Cy-Falls High School’s Life Skills program, Julian was still dependent upon us for his daily needs. We decided that rather than allowing Julian’s disability to become a stumbling block for him or for our family, we would use it as a steppingstone to help him and others in similar situations. After Julian completed high school, we were not happy with the options that was presented to us. The residential housing, we liked was either too far or too expensive and we wanted him to attend a Day Activity center with his peers.
We took a leap of faith and started Julian's House Day Habilitation Program. We sought to create a day habilitation program for youth and adults in Cypress, TX, that was as home-like as possible. Julian’s smile is our guiding light as we open our doors to young adults and adults who are intellectually and developmentally disabled.
In this house, our guests are family and are treated with dignity and respect they deserve and are taught basic life skills.
Our programs focus on teaching basic life skills and provide activities including cooking, arts and crafts, field trips, and much more. We tailor our program to meet the needs of each individual in a loving, nurturing environment.
We soon discovered other parents have the same struggles finding a good Day program for their loved one. With three clients, one of them Julian; and one year later we currently have over 23 day clients and 7 after-schoolers.
Currently we are renting a house for the program which initially was an ideal location; however due to our growth we will soon outgrow our current space. We would love to purchase a property that will be our permanent home, that will allow us room to grow and serve more special needs people. We need financial help to make this a reality. More information about Julian's House can be found on our website, Julianshouse.net
