Joseph's Journey

Joseph Karl Howe is a 23 year old young man with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. I am blessed by the Lord to be Joseph's father. DMD is a tragic disease that robs its victims of the use of their muscles, and ultimately, it robs them of their lives. Joseph has battled this disease valiantly, but we believe he is nearing the end of his journey and that he will possibly be with our Lord Jesus Christ soon.

We have travelled to South Carolina on two separate occasions recently in an effort to spend as much time with him as possible, but the expenses are starting to mount up. We are being as frugal as we can, and I have always been too proud to ask for help in then past, but I am humbling myself this time to allow the Lord to give people an opportunity to bless Joseph and show their love for him.

The main purpose of this fundraiser is to cover hotel, food, and travel for the family during this challenging time. We are also hoping to get his brother Joshua home this week also. I wasn't sure how much to make the campaign goal, so I decided to just ask for $10K as a starting point. If Joseph does pass away to be with the Lord, we will utilize any remaining funds towards his funeral expenses (in full disclosure, we do have a small life insurance policy for him through my employer). If there is anything remaining after this, or if the Lord miraculously intervened to deliver him, the money will be donated to the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) for continued research to hopefully eradicate this dreadful disease someday.
