Since 1986, Marie’s Restaurant has been a local landmark and the heart of Flamingo Beach. . Today Marie must close her doors.

This is an all too familiar story of small business woes where the owner loses all in the battle to keep the doors open and support the workers who in this case have become Marie’s family.

Marie collapsed from the pressures early this month and was hospitalized for 5 days. Her restaurant family were her greatest support, alternately staying with her in the hospital, even through the night. Marie is desperate to compensate her workers with severence pay and settle all debt that she acquired trying to hold out until Flamingo started to flourish again after Covid and through the Marina’s construction phase. Flamingo is now in the low season. Typically 4 months of loss for businesses in the área.

Residents and friends are rallying to help Marie through the challenges she faces. We remember all of the good times that Marie provided to us, as she played host to the Mardi Gras and St Patty’s Day festivites, special holiday dinners as well as the Presidential Challenge fishing tournaments. We are very grateful to Marie for her contributions to the community over the years. Please join us in helping Marie through donations to this fund.
