Help Anderson "Bunny" Phillips fight cancer!

Our beloved father, brother, uncle & friend Anderson “Andy”/ Bunny” Phillips was recently diagnosed with Sarcoma. You may not be familiar with this word if you’re like him and his family. Sarcomas are rare soft tissue tumors that arise in the bones and connective tissue, such as fat and muscle. This uncommon group of cancers accounts for 1% of adult malignant tumors.

On August 9th, 2022, he went for a biopsy, thinking that a previous CT scan which suggested the lump he had to be an abscess and he would need to have it drained, turned out to be cancer. Andy’s form of sarcoma is malignant fibrous histiocytoma, found in the muscle tissue of his upper right leg.

Most people who develop sarcomas are fit, active, and healthy, unaware they have a cancerous tumor growing. Those who know “Bunny” know that he is very active and fit, always on the move, fun-loving and very helpful. "Bunny," up until his diagnosis, was an active member of the Maple Hockey team. He was inducted into the Hockey Association Hall of fame in 2020. As a retiree, he spent his time volunteering as a member of the Holetown Methodist Church, serving as property steward, and member of the choir and men’s fellowship. All the while still finding time to nurture and care for his only granddaughter.

We are seeking to raise money for Anderson to cover various medical expenses in the coming months but most importantly for radiation, immunotherapy and surgery to reduce and remove the tumor. Any amounts contributed will mean the world to Anderson and his family.
