Help Vivian Fight Cancer
Donation protected
Hello! My name is Tera, and I am fundraising to help my sister Vivian, who has recently been diagnosed with a rare brain tumor.
Here's her story...
Vivian is 23 years old and is set to get married to the love of her life in May 2023.
Vivian experienced stroke-like symptoms a few months ago that led to a CT scan. This CT scan raised concerns due to an area of swelling. From here, Vivian had an MRI which showed a 2 cm x 2 cm x 2 cm lesion. After consulting with a neurosurgeon, Vivian has had many MRIs, CT scans, and even a lumbar puncture. With no results coming from any of these procedures, Vivian underwent a partial resection of the brain lesion to help identity what exactly she was dealing with.
This biopsy revealed that Vivian has an extremely rare type of grade III (fast growing), brain tumor called a pleomorphic xanthoastrocytoma (PXA).
Since this is a rare type of cancer and there is not a lot of data supporting the standard approach to fighting this, Vivian's been recommended to travel (including flying, driving, and hotels stays) to multiple big-named cancer centers all over the United States, to help develop the best plan. Unfortunately, Vivian has been unable to work since this all started due to the numerous appointments she has had to attend. Vivian is hoping for some support to ease the financial burden of her traveling back and forth while she figures out what treatment is right for her, as well as any upcoming medical bills that she will be facing.
