Stanleys Fight Against Cancer
Stanley came into our lives a happy, energetic, and loving 9-week-old puppy last March. It was love at first sight. He has captured the heart of everyone he has met and has quite the fan club on the streets of NYC. He loves to eat french fries and pizza crust and is quite the ladies man! He is always up for an adventure, no matter how big or small. However, the latest adventure hasn’t been a happy one.
On May 1st, after treating what we thought was a sprained ankle, we received upsetting results from the latest round of tests that showed cancer cells in our poor puppy. Our hearts were instantly crushed when we heard the news. This beautiful year and a half old puppy had cancer. We made an appointment for a CT scan, as well as a biopsy, at the Animal Medical Center in NYC to get more answers. It came back as an osteosarcoma, an aggressive bone cancer that is extremely rare in a dog of this age. The treatment for this diagnosis is amputation of the leg as well as 4-6 rounds of chemotherapy. He will be going in for surgery on Tuesday, May 19 to remove the leg.
Even through all the doctor’s appointments, medicine and pain, Stanley has not lost his happy-go-lucky spirit and has inspired us all. He still goes for walks with his dog walker and visits frequently with his friends. If there is a dog that is going to fight this, it’s our best friend Stan.
We have been lucky enough to have your love and support as we go through this tough time but we need to ask for a bit more help. Stan’s medical bills have been piling up with more to come. We will be forever grateful for any donation, large or small, that you can give.
THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF OUR HEARTS,
Sam, Billy, and Stanley
