Get Abby Back on Her Feet
Donation protected
In September of 2013 when Abby was in sixth grade she fell and injured her left knee. Over the next several months the pain did not subside and gradually increased. This was the start of her journey with what the doctors have identified as Complex Regional Pain Syndrome which has left her in a wheelchair and unable to bear any weight on either leg. Abby is in pain 24 hrs a day and many days is unable to go to school or participate in her daily activities. This website provides a great explanation of her condition.

Unfortunately nothing is helping her pain despite a visit to Boston Children's Hospital, many medications, physical therapy and other treatments. But today there is hope. It is called Calmare Therapy, an FDA-cleared, pain-free, drug-free treatment that has no side effects and is performed through very low doses of electricity transmitted through 16 different algorithms (electrodes) to disrupt the chronic pain loop message from the brain AND Dr. Cooney thinks Abby is a candidate. Read more about it here...

Our insurance does not cover the treatment and we will have to go stay at the treatment center for 10 days. Any donations will go directly to paying for this therapy, travel, out-of-pocket expenses and any follow-up treatment when we get home.
