Susan (DeCamp) Bates has been diagnosed with an aggressive Stage 3 breast cancer (invasive ductal carcinoma). Her breast cancer battle began with her first breast cancer diagnosis in 2009. She fought it then, and she will fight it again now.

Susan is our caring and loving sister, mother, aunt, wife and friend. She is our rock and has always cared for us. Due to extenuating circumstances, she will be traveling up to Alaska immediately to seek cancer treatment near family, including chemotherapy, surgery, and radiation. She will be unable to work and earn money working this year's summer school, and her return to work in the Fall as a teacher may be delayed due to her battle. As you may imagine, this creates a tremendous hardship.
