Abigail Jenks Memorial Scholarship

We are raising money for the Abigail Jenks Memorial Scholarship, which aims to provide financial assistance for enlisting military personnel graduating from Saratoga Springs High School.

Specialist 4th Class Abigail Jenks was born in Pensacola, Florida November 18, 2000, and had two brothers and a sister. She grew up with a love for animals and soon became a country girl. As a 4H member she cared for chickens and rabbits and showed them in the local fairs. Her strongest passion was the art of drawing, something she continued throughout her life. She was also an aspiring tattoo artist.

Abby joined the Army after high school, carrying on a family tradition of military service. Two great-grandfathers served in the Navy, a grandfather served 20 years in the Air Force, her father in the Marines, and her brother currently serves in the Air Force. In 2018, she was the first female from the Capitol Region to enlist as a combat Paratrooper and was assigned to the famed 82ndAirborne Division. It was there she met her fiancé, Sergeant Shane Grant, also a paratrooper. They were engaged to be married in the fall of 2021. Abigail jumped from the Blackhawk helicopter on April 19th, 2021, during a routine training mission at Ft. Bragg, NC when a training accident took her life.

We will be rucking 22 miles, with 35lbs on our backs, this upcoming Memorial Day, May 30th, 2022. We will start in Wilton, NY, and ruck to the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, and then finish at the Saratoga Lake Public Boat Launch. We thank you for your support!
