Brenda Ardis-Olsen’s Battle

Brenda was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer on May 6th 2019. Brenda is 58 years young. She’s a State record holder and is in the Fruiport High School Hall of Fame. Everyone loved watching her swim and run track! Now she’s competing against cancer for her life. This cancer doesn’t know her strength and determination.
Brenda has three Sons and recently had her first Grandchild, Ricky Jay. (Pictured here) What we thought was just a Gallbladder issue turned out to be a devastating diagnosis. Not only did Brenda have pancreatic cancer, it had already metastasized to her liver and other organs.
Almost immediately after the diagnosis her discomfort worsened. Brenda has extreme difficulty eating and is in a significant amount of pain. The Dr’s are doing whatever they can to help control her pain. She will start an aggressive chemotherapy on June 12, 2019. It’s hard to believe she’s still fighting with how ill she is. But, it’s Brenda Ardis! Or “Ardie” as they called her in High school. Ardie doesn’t quit.
Brenda can no longer work as the friendly server everyone loved to see. Brenda lives alone and her job was her only source of income. She has served people throughout our community for many years. She had a way with people that not very many of us have. She’d give you her last five dollars and go without what she needed. She is truly a giving person. Now, Brenda needs us to help serve her.
Brenda’s expenses are already a concern. She mostly relied on tips to take care of her living costs. She hasn’t had any for over a month now. Not all her medical expenses are covered. She really needs a recliner and a bed that is better suited for her needs. She lives in a modest home and has been living a simple but happy life. If she needed something, you most likely would find her at a secondhand shop, a discount store or yard sale! She just loves finding bargains.
Our focus is to help Brenda be as comfortable as possible. To help her not worry about how everything will be paid. To let her know how much she is loved. To give her as many wonderful memories as we possibly can. To give her whatever she needs to fight what’s trying to take her away from us all.
