Medical Expenses

Donation protected
My name is Suzanne ( Ronzia ) Kovach. My family and I are asking for your help on behalf of our dear brother, son, husband and father, Tim Ronzia. Tim is a hardworking person and has done everything in his power to build the best possible life for his wife, Ellen, and their 2 children, Julie and Mitch.

Starting in 2016 Tim found himself with a persistent cough, fatigue, sweating on one side of his head and drooping of his eye on that same side. He spent countless hours in Doctor's offices and hospitals looking for the cause. After months of testing he was diagnosed with Sarcoidosis, an inflammatory disease that effects multiple organs in the body, but mostly the lungs and lymph nodes. He was prescribed prednisone and the disease seemed to subside for a period of time. During this time Tim continued to work, making the long commute from Crystal Lake IL to Milwaukee WI. The most important thing for Tim is to provide a good life for his family. He is tireless in giving of himself to his family and friends.

In March of 2018 Tim had his gallbladder removed and the pre-surgery x-rays showed a spot on his lung. After a family reunion in Florida he returned home to be told he had Diffuse Large B Cell Lymphoma, the most aggressive and fast growing type of Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma ( NHL).

Because of Tim's unique situation of having been diagnosed with Sarcoidosis (which mimics many of the symptoms of Lymphoma) and Lymphoma he was referred to a specialist at Chicago University Hospital. The hospital is not easy to get to from Crystal lake. Ellen is a school nurse and is trying to continue to work to help pay for the non-covered medical expenses which are piling up.

On Thanksgiving day Tim had seizure like symptoms and was taken to the nearest hospital. Within 24 hours he was transferred to his home base hospital where he was receiving chemotherapy and then finally to the Chicago University Hospital. He spent days in the hospital recovering from the bruising on his brain caused by a tumor on his skull. He handled this difficult time with a positive attitude, never complaining.

After two exhausting lines of chemotherapy treatment the cancer was still present and he was evaluated to see if he was a candidate for CAR T Cell Therapy Treatment.  CAR T is an individualized cell-based therapy technique that involves removing your white blood cells, including T cells.  Those T cells are genetically treated in the laboratory to produce special receptors called Chimeric Antigen Receptors or CARS.  These CARS allow T cells to recognize an antigen at the surface of cancer cells and activate T cells ability to kill cancer cells.  This immunotherapy is one of the most promising areas of cancer treatment.”  Currently in the USA, the FDA has only approved CAR T Cell Therapy for Leukemia and Diffuse Large B Cell Lymphoma.

Tim and his family are  grateful to be provided with this opportunity for a cutting-edge treatment, but the financial burden of this treatment is overwhelming as we all can appreciate and imagine.

This treatment will require Tim to stay in Chicago for a minimum of 6 weeks with the possibility of staying up to 8 weeks.  The rules of treatment require him to stay within 30 minutes of the hospital and Tim will need to have a care giver by his side 24/7 through out the 6 to 8 weeks of treatment.

The past year has not been an easy journey for Tim, Ellen and their family and the road ahead is hard and the recovery is long.  Tim and Ellen have been resistant to ask for financial help throughout this cancer fighting journey but they understand that they can no longer do it alone, they need a little help.

All donations big and small will be graciously accepted and will directly aid in Tim's journey fighting cancer and the difficult road ahead.  It will ease the stress of wondering how they will cover additional medical expenses while still trying to provide for their family.  Money raised will be used to help the family decrease the financial burden of extended lodging, food and transportation while Tim is receiving treatment and away from home.

Successful treatment can offer Tim the opportunity to be cancer FREE and enjoy many more years with her family and friends.

Please continue to pray for healing, strength and peace to cover them.
Remember all donations big or small are helpful and appreciated beyond words.

Tim will be at University of Chicago Hospital for the next three weeks. The address is 5841 S. Maryland Ave., Chicago. IL 60637. Room # 1033.
Because Tim will be in isolation he cannot receive flowers, but cards and prayers would be greatly appreciated.

We thank you in advance.
