Support Maisie Mae's Road to Recovery
Donation protected
On Thursday, August 29th, our beloved Maisie Mae, just 18 years old and beginning her first week at Chico State, was involved in a devastating car accident. As a passenger in a rollover, she sustained severe injuries, breaking her upper spine at C5 and C6. While we are grateful beyond words that she is still with us and has no brain damage, Maisie is now paralyzed from the ribs down. She can move her forearms, but her hands remain unresponsive.
This heartbreaking turn of events has left us reeling. Maisie is in the ICU, enduring unimaginable pain, and trying to come to terms with a future that feels uncertain. But if you know Maisie, you know she is a fighter. We are committed to being by her side every moment, ensuring she has the love and support she needs to face this challenge head-on.
Maisie’s recovery will be a long and difficult journey, requiring extensive medical care, rehabilitation, and significant adjustments to her living situation.
Her parents, Shawn and Kristen and brother, Shamus, are with her around the clock in the ICU, ensuring she never feels alone during this challenging time.
As her extended support network, we want to do everything in our power to help ease the burden. We are reaching out to friends, family, co-workers, and the incredible Rusty Eyeball community to ask for your support. Any donation, no matter how small, will go directly towards:
- Medical expenses not covered by insurance, including surgeries, therapies, and medications.
- Rehabilitation costs, which will be crucial in helping Maisie regain as much mobility and independence as possible.
- Modifications to her living environment to accommodate her new needs, such as a lift to access her home and space for her medical equipment.
- Travel and accommodation expenses for her family, as we remain by her side during her recovery.
Maisie is a remarkable young woman with a vibrant spirit and a life full of potential. We believe in miracles and are holding onto hope that, with time, love, and the right care, she can defy the odds.
If you feel moved to help Maisie Mae on her journey to recovery, we would greatly appreciate it. If you are unable to donate monetarily, we ask that you share her story and keep her in your thoughts and prayers.
We are praying for a miracle and would be forever grateful if you could help us make one a reality.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your kindness, generosity, and support.
