Help Sabrina Fight Cancer

Donation protected
Thank you for your interest in supporting Sabrina’s fight against cancer. We truly appreciate all the love and support during this difficult time. We are asking that everyone please keep Sabrina and our family in your prayers!

On May 13th, 2020 Sabrina had a biopsy where the doctor attempted to remove 3 tumors from her mouth and throat (one in her throat, one behind her right top molar, and part of her top palate) for testing. The doctor was able to remove one tumor completely but only was able to partially remove the other two.  At the end of the surgery, the doctor said the tumors didn’t look good and asked to see Sabrina the following day with her husband.

On May 14th our family received the shocking news that Sabrina was diagnosed with mucosal melanoma. This kind of cancer is very rare and very aggressive. Over the next 12 days following the diagnosis we worked tirelessly to get her all the tests, PET Scan, MRI, and appointments with 3 different oncologists.

On May 21st we received the PET Scan results which thankfully confirmed that cancer had not spread anywhere else in her body, it remained local to her oral cavity.

On May 26th she went to the Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa. The Moffitt Cancer Center is ranked number 8 in the nation for cancer treatment and they are the only facility in Florida that specializes in treating this type of cancer, so naturally, that is where we wanted her to go. During her first appointment, both the oncologist and the head and neck surgeon confirmed that surgery is not an option at this time because the surgery would be extremely intensive and not be able to fully remove the cancer and the recovery from this would delay the ability to start any other treatments to hopefully shrink the cancer tumors. The doctors recommended her for treatment of combined immunotherapy for 12 weeks and then rescan and evaluate if surgery is an option at that time or if further treatments with immunotherapy, chemotherapy and/or radiation are necessary.

On June 1st Sabrina started her road to recovery with her first combined immunotherapy treatment in Tampa. The road to recovery is already a difficult one, and on top of that due to COVID restrictions, she has to go into her treatments and appointments by herself.

In order to accommodate her treatment plan and the travel back and forth from West Palm to Tampa for her treatments and focus on her health and recovery, she will not be able to continue working.

We are asking for any support you can give to help reduce the financial burdens that this journey will bring. This is a position my family never imagined we would be in and it's very humbling to ask for help. We know these are difficult times for all of us – financially, physically, and emotionally. Anything you can donate is greatly appreciated, but we understand if you are unable to. Positive thoughts and prayers are much needed!

Plans with funds:

Medical Bills
Mortgage
Daycare for their 1-year old son
Travel costs for commuting to and from Tampa for treatment
Other related costs

Sabrina is an incredible 28-year-old woman. She is a civil engineer, so naturally, she’s incredibly smart. She is strong-willed, kind-hearted, family-oriented, extremely loyal, fun-loving and so much more. She is a beloved daughter, sister, friend, wife, and mom to a beautiful 1-year old little boy.

She is strong and in our family, no one fights alone. We all feel incredibly blessed to have such an amazing support network of family & friends.

We thank you so much for your contribution, continued prayers, and support! It means more than we can express.

Love,

Sabrina’s Family
