Jonathan Wright Memorial Fund

This Go Fund Me is set up to support the family of our beloved friend, colleague and mentor, Jonathan Wright, who passed away suddenly Monday evening, December 16.  Jonathan was a passionate biologist who found magic and beauty in everything he saw, instilling a sense of wonder in his students.  He was an accomplished violinist who helped bring the beauty of music into the lives of so many of us including his fellow performers in the Pomona College Symphony, the faculty string quartet Euphoria, a violin-piano duo and other ad-hoc ensembles.  He was a gentle, thoughtful leader both as Chair of the Biology Department and an Associate Dean of Pomona College.  An entire community is aching at the loss of this brilliant, creative, caring, and genuine person.
 
Jonathan’s wife Joanne and sons Jeremy and Charlie are now faced with a tremendous and unexpected loss.  Your donations will contribute to getting them through the initial expenses of the loss of their husband and father, including helping with funeral home expenses, flying Joanne’s family from Korea and Jonathan’s family from England and housing them all, and all of the other unanticipated expenses that arise both after a death and at the end of the calendar year.  Jonathan was necessarily the sole contributor to the household income; any and all contributions will take away some of the worry that has suddenly become part of her life.
