Hi, my name is Jennifer. I am 25 years old.

I have been fighting a progressive disorder called Trigeminal Neuralgia for seven years since I was 18 years old. It is a chronic pain condition that affects the 5th cranial nerve called the trigeminal nerve, which carries sensation from your face to your brain. I suffer daily and am in constant excruciating pain.

Trigeminal Neuralgia causes extreme, electric shock pain in the face, teeth and mouth and is triggered by anything which touches my face from showering, a gust of wind, eating, talking, brushing teeth, or even smiling. It is thought to be the most painful disease known to mankind. It can intensify over time and is continually aggravated and triggered.

My pain has worsened over the last year and my health has tremendously declined. Daily headaches and facial pain with intense toothaches is my constant reality. From the moment I wake to the moment I finally can fall asleep I am in pain. I struggle to consume enough calories due to my severe stabbing pain with trouble chewing and swallowing. I have several advanced and chronic Gastrointestinal symptoms and severe allergies which limit me and I can only consume a select few foods. I have been given iron infusions and am in need of more now from chronic GI bleeding depleting my iron levels.

Therefore, instructed by my doctors I can only eat simple foods pureed and mashed. I am recommended to consume electrolyte solutions to stay hydrated and provide my body necessary nutrients to survive. I have become so weak and frail and lost weight from inability to eat. My mother is my caretaker and helps me with completing essential daily tasks from showering to getting dressed.

This money will help in covering rising medical costs, necessary medical testing, essential medicines and nutritional supplements to help me sustain and maintain a healthy weight and give fuel to my body. The cost of the electrolytes drinks is pricey and I am unable to work due to the severity of my disease.

The amount of love and kindness I have received from others is what helps me keep fighting. I am strong and this disease does not define me. I am extremely grateful and appreciate all donations.
