Brave like Becky

The is my momma, Becky. She is 47 years old. She is married to her husband, Randy and together we have 7 kids. 10 grandkids.
April 2012 Beck was diagnosed with leiomyosarcoma in her uterus. 5 year survival rate is 30%. This is a rare and aggressive cancer. Due to multiple medical mistakes they were unable to stage it. Treatment options were limited and complex.
We were set up with an OBGYN oncologist that is a sarcoma specialist at Barnes hospital in St. Louis. Today, 8 years later, she is still in the tumor board at Barnes. There have been no cases like hers, she won the lottery backwards. As of today, she is her oncologists longest living sarcoma patient.
First surgery: complete hysterectomy. cervix and remaining ovary has to come out. Three weeks after surgery we started chemo therapy twice a week for twelve weeks. She finished her last round of this chemo the day Harper was born, and remained cancer free until 2016.
The cancer then spread to the spine and later the lung. She has now had 5 different surgeries and multiple biopsies. She has had almost every chemo therapy her oncologist can offer, reached the lifetime max on some. She has had radiation 3 times.
Due to the radiation to her back and surgeries to remove a large tumor, she now has a spinal fluid leak that doctors have attempted to repair. It now appears she will have to have another surgery to repair the leak and more radiation and chemo once that heals.
She is the bravest people I know. I'm still in awe of her bravery. her smile is still warm, her laugh is still contagious and her beauty lights up an entire room. But she is tired. she doesn’t want any more hospitals, more chemo, more radiation, more surgeries. she just doesn’t want to live like this.
But after many prayers and a long chat with God. She will call the surgeon on Monday morning and have ANOTHER surgery . she hates the idea of being an hour away, not being able to be mom, feeling helpless. But she will do this so she can go back to being a mom, grandma, sister, daughter, wife, friend, and nurse.
Please pray that she can continue to see the positive through this awful patch. Please pray that she see’s the beauty of this life and have peace with whatever God throws at her.
At this time she is unable to work and the date of when she will be able to return to work in unknown. Any and all donations would be greatly appreciated to help cover her bills.
