Hello hello! We want to start by saying a huge thank you to everyone who has listened, written and shared with us in the past few years. It has meant the world to meet so many of you and find the most incredible community.
We are fundraising to support the running costs for our podcast and online platform, Things Musicians Don’t Talk About , and to help us take it to the next stage of development.
In 2025 we are celebrating five years of TMDTA raising musicians’ voices! In 2019, little support existed for a musician experiencing mental health difficulties. Many musicians were exasperated and trapped by the culture of fear and silence surrounding mental health and playing injury.

Launched to create a space we wish would have existed when we were experiencing mental health issues and adversity within the music industry, TMDTA has created a community of openness and advocacy for musicians, providing peer support and campaigning for change. But now we need your help.
The next step
It’s now 2025 and musicians are still struggling in relative silence. The industry is suffering from ongoing cuts, with musicians’ income stagnating at unsustainable rates. The mental health support available doesn’t match the extent of the issue and, as a result, many musicians feel that speaking out may impact their career. Asking for basic needs can feel like a risk.
We are looking to take our podcast to the next stage; making audio documentaries on hard-hitting, contemporary issues such as Beta Blockers, industry injustice and neurodivergence, as well as travelling further afield for high-quality conversations with musicians with important stories.
We are very grateful to the Royal Society of Musicians for supporting us, but their contribution isn't able to cover the full costs of the podcast.
We're looking to for help towards costs including:
- paying our audio editors
- covering our subscriptions (podcast distribution platform, website etc.) which currently total around £100 per month
- purchase of an additional microphone
- travel costs
We also want to hold another Musicians' Injury Awareness Week in 2025, hosting events and conversations to shed light on a rarely-addressed issue.
Can you give a small amount to help us take TMDTA, our advocacy and journalism to the next level?
Thank you, as ever, for listening and spreading the word of the work we do! Lots of love,
Hattie and Becca xx
