Rachelle's Therapy Fund

This is my wife, Rachelle. She is my best friend, soul mate, teacher, and mother of my three amazing children. But behind that beautiful smile is a person that is sick and hurting.
When we first met, she told me that she was sick, with what they thought at the time, was Lupus. Almost ten years, many more doctors visits, shared care at Mt Sinai for all 3 pregnancies, medical tests and medications, she is even more sick.
Looking in from the outside, you would see her as a hard working full time teacher and mom. Someone that is positive and helpful to all around her. But I see the dark side. I see when she stumbles out of bed at night to go to the baby. I see her wince in pain when she puts on her shoes, and the frusteration in her eyes when she cannot skate with her kids, missing those milestones, as she used to be a competitive Synchronized skater. I see the total and utter exhaustion when she comes home from work and then has to prepare dinner and bath 3 kids, then do her school work. I see her fighting with herself, physically, metally and emotionally.
One year ago, Rachelle finally got some direction with her "auto immune" diseases and was diagnosed with Celiac Disease, Scleroderma, and finally Colitis. She has dealt with Asthma as well since she was a baby. She went back to work after her Maternity leave and carried on like nothing was wrong with her, but I saw the affect.
Unfortunately, Rachelle started the school year at a new school, but only made it until mid October when anxiety and depression set in. This, on top of the physical disease that she fights each day, became too much for her. I begged her to take some time off of work. Stress causes auto immune diseases to flare and increases the severity of her symptoms. At that time, Rachelle was plauged by large calcium deposits on the bottoms of her feet and the knuckles of her toes, as well as her fingers. There were days that she could not walk, or write on the board for her students. This made it difficult for her to get around at work, write on the board and do her job effectively. There is no medication for Scleroderma, as it is such a rare disease and she suffers from constant pain and numbness to these areas.
At first being off of work was devestating as she loves her job. But even completing daily jobs like laundry and tidying the house are difficult for her. She keeps it together for the kids, and then falls apart with me. It hurts me to see her in such pain, and there is nothing that I can do to help her.
Rachelle has taken it upon herself to research anything that might help her. Some things she has found have helped slightly, but she is still struggling day to day. Of course, she makes sure that all of us are looked after first and will be the first person to have a make shift dinner versus a regular one, just so that the kids and I can eat.
After lots of reasearch, Rachelle finally found a therapy that she felt would be beneficial and might alleivate some of the pain and stop the growth of the calcium deposits. But unfortunately, she is the bread winner and being off of work, we cannot afford her to start it.
Rachelle needs certain items and foods to get started on this Therapy. She has even found a Naturopath in Quebec that will work with her. She will need specific supplements that will not be covered via our medical insurance.
This Fund will be for Rachelle's new therapy and any expenses that occur. Please help me help my wife to heal and to have the quality of life that a 38 year old women should have.
Sincerly, Aaron
