The Baca Family

On October 8th little Gracie was involved in a terrible car accident. The car she was riding in with her mom, brother and best friend was rear ended at a high rate of speed. As a result of this accident, Gracie received life threatening head trauma resulting in multiple skull fractures and brain injuries. As of this date, she is still unconscious and in intensive care. Her short-term outlook should improve, but doctors have warned the family that her recovery will be measured in months to maybe even years. She is not expected to leave the hospital for the foreseeable future.

To make matters worse, her mother had injuries to her chest, arms, hands, and back that will require ongoing medical care. Her brother Cole also sustained a fractured arm that must be seen by an orthopedic surgeon and could hamper his ability to play High School Basketball.

Gracie’s father Jared has been a career Fireman since 2003 and is currently employed by Aurora Fire Department. This tragedy has forced Jared to take a leave of absence for an unknown amount of time. Her mother Megan is a hospital administrator, and she too has had to step away from her daily duties to tend to her family with no known date of return.

As everyone knows when insurance gets involved, that nothing will happen quickly, and there will be expenses that won’t be covered or may even be denied. Add that to the possibility that Jared and Megan may have to care for Gracie for many months to come, and it’s obvious the expenses will begin to pile up. Anticipated expenses include insurance deductibles, long term changes to their home for Gracie’s recovery, replacement of their lost vehicle, loss of potential income from work, legal consultations, renting on-site bedrooms at the hospital for Jared and Megan to sleep, uncovered medical items that always occur, etc, etc etc…

We understand that everyone asks for help, but this family has one of the longest roads ahead that anyone could imagine, and things will not get better for a long time. Jared and Meghan have given so much personally and professionally throughout their lives and all we ask is that you consider helping if you can. We know little Gracie will pull through this, but its going to be a difficult struggle for their family both mentally, but also financially as well.
